Ellern Mede Group
Lee Strachan was brought into the Ellern Mede Group to provide the assistance and regeneration of the hospitals. Old infrastructure solutions and computer equipment required upgrading, bringing them into the 21st Century.
A complete review of technological and visions / forecasts was needed for the business as the customer considered further expansion into the North of England, aswell as continuing to review security and day to day governance and care. The Clients primary aims were to enhance further on security, preventions and project whilst new hospitals within the Group alongside school services became more concrete than ever.
To provide further project management to open two other large hospitals in Rotherham, Yorkshire & Breaston, Derby it was without doubt Galactica traveling all 4 corners of England.
Ellern Mede Ridgeway: The oldest hospital within the Group where it all began, Ridgeway within the heart of Mill Hill London, went through a complete regeneration in full speed aggression due to its lack of up to date needs and old working ways. Galactica IT Group upgraded data cable from out of scope Category 5 cable to Cat6 whilst causing minimal disruption of day to day care towards in-patients and maintaining their safety. Windows 10 & 11 Deployment processes and upgrades to computer services that were in end of life state or requiring in part of retirements were upgraded.
CCTV review and moving from 460k quality cameras based on Coax grade to IP configuration 1080p Hikvision CCTV solutions which were later deployed to remaining hospital services.
“Early in 2020, Galactica attended a Network outage in a former grounds of Ridgeway that triggered the requirements of data cable upgrades to the hospital and rectified in a priority manner.”
“It gives me pleasure to advise you of my experiences in the quality of work produced by Lee & Paul Strachan whilst he was a colleague at Ellern Mede Group as managing our IT and Infrastructure.
Lee is both knowledgeable across many aspects of IT but also aware of his own limitations in a sector that is increasingly going super specialist. This means that if there was an area e.g. new software that he was not familiar with, he would not pretend otherwise but would be honest and go and research that area with other specialists, so that he could then offer the best advice. As the Managing Director of our group I found this approach refreshing and helpful. You cannot be a master of all trades in IT these days and those IT professionals who suggest they are, are in my view, a danger to themselves and others.
From a hardware point of view, such as PC installations and cabling etc., Lee was always proactive, hardworking, professional and diligent. Most importantly he always completed such work on time and to a very high standard. There can be no doubt that Lee was at the heart of an IT transformation at our company and certainly helped drag us into the 21st century in all aspects and all within a relatively tight budget.
I believe Galactica IT is best suited to one off projects and long term IT Retainers with clear specifications, timelines and budgets. Working within an organisation as with individuals who do not share his work ethic or systemised approach to work and projects.”
